Once Upon A Time In The Empire
Metal Workers Guild
The Headquaters of the Metalworker’s Guild stands on the north street a little way off the Bögenhafen Road, at the heart of a small cluster of forges and workshops. Like most of the surrounding buildings, it is a single story stone structure, stained with soot and smoke. However, unlike the surrounding buildings, a tall, intricate and reflective archway of wrought iron hangs over the front door, almost like a massive upside down horseshoe. Many Ubersreik citizens cannot agrree whether it is a work of art or an eyesore.
The Metal Workers Guild negotiates with the Town Council, the Boatmen’s Guild and Merchants Guild over the prices of ore and other finished metal goods, shipping costs, and taxes on metal goods. It has good
though somewhat one sided relations with the town’s dwarf community, who regard the human metalworkers as good natured bodgers rather than true craftsmen, but refer to them amiably as “little brothers”.
The current master of the Metalworkers Guild is Johann Brass. As well as pursuing favouable changes to prices and taxes, he is working to extend the Guild’s contacts with the dwarf community, and tries to learn as much as possible from them without prying into sectets or seeming to be a competitor. Needless to say this a task that requires tact and diplomacy, but his genuine enthusiasm for the craft of refineing and working metal has gained him some credibility among shortbeard metal workers in the town. The long beards, for their part, still treat him with polite caution.
